The 2016 AXUG Summit, the biggest gathering of the year for Microsoft Dynamics AX users and partners wrapped last week in Tampa, Fla. More than 2,000 Dynamics AX users joined together for user-produced education sessions and networking opportunities. The high-energy event may be over, but we’re still excited about some of the conversations and announcements the event generated.
The second annual Techweek Kansas City wrapped this weekend with a 24-hour hackathon. The weeklong event around innovation and entrepreneurship in tech culminated in the contest held in the Think Big offices. Over the course of one (very) long Saturday, seven teams put their heads together to solve a modern medical problem using Cerner’s FHIR API. Like last year, DSI developers—used to solving pressing challenges with innovative technology—made a big showing.
Techweek Kansas City 2016 is fast approaching. In less than two weeks, innovators, entrepreneurs and techies will come together to explore tech trends in Kansas City and beyond. Techweek is a festival that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship now taking place in eight major cities. Kansas City joined the roster last year and drew more than 4,000 attendees for a week of thought-provoking sessions and stimulating networking opportunities. If the schedule is any indication, this year’s event, running September 12–17, will be just as inspiring.
Digital business was a central theme of this year’s INFOCUS, with a special focus on its key “enabling technologies.” What are those technologies? You’ve heard of them before: mobility, cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT). Throughout the conference and in the Oracle and DSI keynotes, speakers made clear that there is no single technology trend that can drive digital business. Rather, it’s the way that businesses use a combination of these technologies that can make a real difference to the top and bottom line.
This year’s Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference (GartnerSCC) addressed digital disruption in many forms. The imperative was this: create a customer-centric supply chain that emphasizes a digital experience.
Throughout SuiteWorld16, NetSuite’s annual conference, it’s no surprise that technology took center stage during several show-stopping keynotes, not to mention an insightful mix of breakout sessions and live demos.

A fascinating paradox has gripped the supply chain industry. Today’s supply chains have become more complex than ever, growing in size and scope to encompass more trading partners, more facilities and more customers, often spanning the globe. Yet to efficiently collaborate with those trading partners, run those facilities and serve those customers, simplicity is key. You need to be able to answer basic questions: where’s your inventory? What’s happening right now in your supply chain? Do your customers have what they need? Technology is the key to streamlining the supply chain, but as discussed at the KC SmartPort annual industry briefing, it’s not a matter of simply using technology, but truly understanding what it is and what it can do.
