Techweek Kansas City 2016 is fast approaching. In less than two weeks, innovators, entrepreneurs and techies will come together to explore tech trends in Kansas City and beyond. Techweek is a festival that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship now taking place in eight major cities. Kansas City joined the roster last year and drew more than 4,000 attendees for a week of thought-provoking sessions and stimulating networking opportunities. If the schedule is any indication, this year’s event, running September 12–17, will be just as inspiring.

This year’s sessions cover the biggest tech trends of the digital age from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things.

LaunchKC’s grant competition was a highlight of the inaugural Techweek Kansas City. Founded in 2015, LaunchKC’s mission is to attract tech entrepreneurs to the area. As a mark of its success, LaunchKC’s founders were selected for the Kansas City #Techweek100. Another Techweek 100 ambassador of innovation? DSI’s own president and CEO, Matt McGraw. (But we digress.)
This year, the competition continues with a new batch of 20 finalists. Chosen from a pool of over 400 startups from all over the world, this year’s 20 will vie for 10 $50K cash grants. The winning startups will also receive a year of free office space in downtown KC as well as mentorship and professional advising.
You can see the LaunchKC grants competition throughout Techweek. Starting Thursday at 10:30 a.m., check out the public demos from each startup. The competition semi-finals kick off Friday bright and early at 8 a.m. Finally, don’t miss the LaunchKC awards ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday at the DSI-sponsored Extreme Screen. See which ten startups will take home the prize.
Friday, September 16 is a big day at Techweek. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., anyone interested in working at some of Kansas City’s top companies is welcome to meet with employers at the Hiring Fair. You can even submit your resume ahead of time on the event website. Each company participating in the hiring fair, including DSI, will receive your resume. We’re always interested in meeting talented people who are excited about collaboration and innovation. Visit us during the hiring fair to hear about the perks of joining #TeamDSI.
This tech showcase, starting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15, is free and open to the public. Come by the plaza at Union Station to get the latest on products and services from tech companies in the area. While you’re there, stop by DSI’s booth to say hi and meet our team. You can even see the winning project from last year’s Techweek Hackathon—a virtual reality fitness experience.
